The role of the Reporting Analyst is versatile and provides a great opportunity for anyone who loves to work with complex data structures, who is keen to continually improve their coding skills (VBA, Python, R) and generally enjoys solving puzzles!

The main responsibility of the role is to manage the data and the report automation for our large international tracking studies. This includes:

  • Organization and maintenance of the databases
  • Data quality checking
  • Running ad-hoc analysis requests
  • Building new and maintaining existing reporting automation processes
  • Creating VBA-based interfaces between e.g. SPSS and MS Office applications
  • Application of text mining algorithms onto free-form text data in Python or R

The Reporting Analyst proactively identifies opportunities for automation across the business in order to increase general efficiency. Therefore, an understanding of how to build an automation pipeline from start to finish would be desirable, including the ability to visualise the steps needed and plan an automation project and required resources so that projects are delivered within expected timelines.

The successful candidate will have advanced experience MS Office VBA macro programming. It is essential that you are able to read and write in VBA, building and modifying macros. The successful candidate may also have a good repertoire of commands in SPSS syntax. Being able to recode, compute and manipulate data is key as well as having some knowledge of SPSS Syntax macros if possible. Although SPSS training is on offer – the main skill to have is VBA.

You will need a good understanding of the management of data and databases, how to check data and know how to organize data efficiently.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Excellent IT skills with a high level of proficiency in the main MS Office applications including MS Excel and VBA
  • Good command of the fundamental statistical concepts applied in research
  • Experience with R or Python
  • SPSS Syntax
