A typical day in evaluation whether it is economic, social or impact within the world of public and social sector research involves analysing data to assess the costs and benefits of various policies or projects, listening to what a diverse range of people have to say on the issues. You might create models, conduct deep dive research, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure accurate evaluations are made. Meetings with key society stakeholders and policymakers are common to discuss findings and provide recommendations.
Within the world of evaluation, attention to detail, data interpretation, and effective communication skills, the application of qualitative research methods are crucial for presenting your findings in a clear and actionable manner.
Evaluation is used in many industries and there are many type of evaluation but within social & market research you can use your analytical skills to build a specialism in Evaluation.
This can be an incredibly rewarding career, if you work on the agency/consultancy side you could be impacting upon public policy nationally and internationally. It is also very versatile, skills gained on the agency side are equally useful on the client side and you can switch sectors relatively easily.
