Farewell October…..
So October has come to an end, Halloween costumes are packed away, the leaves have pretty much fallen and we are in freefall to Christmas.
But what happened in the world of market research recruitment and how does that impact on you? You may have noticed an increase in new jobs being posted on job boards and with the recent news that the recession is over, confidence seems renewed. Based on what happed here, we can report a 10% increase in jobs created in comparison with Septembers figures. The breakdown of new jobs gives us an indication as to what’s happening in the market.
We saw 10% of new roles in Project Operations of which 10% were non MR agency roles, so a mix of clientside and marketing agencies, and the remaining split between qual and quant was fairly equal. Just in case you think it’s all about London, 15% of new jobs registered in October were for employers outside of London.
Confidence continues to grow in terms of job seekers and the increase in new candidates which we saw in September has been sustained through October. This is again an indication of increased confidence in the market.
October also saw the end of 2 well known research agencies – Holden Pearmain and BrandDriver. Very unfortunate when this happens but hopefully by now all staff affected will have found new positions within Market Research.
In terms of recruitment we are still seeing a more rigorous process which we totally support. Any hire is a big investment so make sure it’s right before you introduce someone new to your team.
As for us, we are working on some great ads for Christmas, have just finished a training course and we are all geared up to help you! So have a great November and do get in touch with us if we can help at all.
